314 Action Endorses Dr. Jasmine Clark for Georgia’s 13th Congressional District
April 7, 2026
(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) — 314 Action today announced the endorsement of Dr. Jasmine Clark for Georgia’s 13th Congressional District.
“As Donald Trump and RFK Jr. ramp up their attacks on public health, Dr. Jasmine Clark is the only candidate in the race who can defend Georgians against their anti-science policies,” said Shaughnessy Naughton, President of 314 Action. “As a scientist, educator and state representative, Dr. Clark has stood on the frontlines against their war on science and exemplifies the importance of electing scientists to office. She’s proven she will stand up to Republicans, debunk dangerous misinformation, and deliver lasting results that protect health care and lower costs. We’re proud to endorse Dr. Clark and look forward to supporting her campaign.”
“The future of science is under attack—and the only way to protect it is by fighting back,” said Representative Dr. Jasmine Clark. “As Georgians struggle to afford health care, afford groceries, or even rent, it’s clear that we need a new kind of leadership, a data-driven, solutions-oriented leadership that will best reflect the needs of the district. I’ve spent my life standing up for science, which is why I’m honored to be endorsed by 314 Action, the largest national organization electing scientists and doctors to office. I look forward to working together and ensuring that every person in The Peach State has the opportunity for a better life.”
Representative Dr. Jasmine Clark is a mom, microbiologist, and State Representative who found her passion for science and helping others at a young age. She received her PhD in microbiology and cellular genetics from Emory University where she now serves as a professor in the nursing school. Dr. Clark was first elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 2018, flipping a Gwinnett County seat that had been long held by a Republican incumbent. Since then, she has been a leading Democratic voice in the legislature, where she’s stood up for science, called out Republicans when they deliberately misrepresent data, organized members of the Democratic caucus to block the Republican’s most extreme pieces of legislation, and introduced legislation to create a safer, healthier, more prosperous state for all Georgians.
Dr. Jasmine Clark is 314 Action’s first endorsement of a primary challenger to a Democratic House incumbent in the organization’s history and recent polling shows her tied with the incumbent. Her victory would make history—Dr. Clark would be the first woman PhD scientist, first black PhD scientist and first black woman PhD scientist elected to Congress.
